The Penn State football program is reeling after the firing of head coach James Franklin on Sunday. No portion of the organization has been hit harder than the recruiting department, with commits either outright decommitting or opening up their recruitment in droves. Today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show, Penn State recruiting reporter Ryan Snyder assesses the damage that's been done in the last week. We'll also look at the road ahead for landmarks in the coaching search that make sense for the program and how they affect this year's cycle. Finally, we'll preview the game between Penn State and Iowa this Saturday to discuss how we see the immediate future playing out.

Penn State recruiting fallout 

Today, we'll dig into the announcements from Penn State prospects, which have come in several degrees. Snyder will discuss what he thinks the difference is between "committed but opening recruitment" and "officially decommitted" means. We'll also discuss what interim head coach and lead recruiter Terry Smith can do to help Penn State retain as many players as it possibly can through the transition. 

Finally, we'll look at specific players in the Class of 2026 to see what the future may hold for the program. Four-star receiver Jahsiear Rogers was one of the most exciting recruits in recent memory at wide receiver. Can Penn State bring him back in the fold? 

Two of the team's longest-tenured recruits, Messiah Mickens and Kevin Brown, have made their announcements recently. We'll discuss the situation with Snyder regarding the Harrisburg duo.
